salem (part i)

it was her fault.

she watched the tall grass sway and nodded her head.

her stomach wrenched tight

and the convulsion threw her forward

back into his arms.

miles away

a low hum

uncoiled

from beneath the trees.

their eyes met.

full of tears – she shook

as he stroked his thumb across her damp cheek.

silly words escaped his mouth

regretted once said.

its going to be okay…
